French broadcasters (BFMTV, France 24, Le Monde) post a lot to Dailymotion. Useful for journalism research or saving a clip before the broadcaster removes it.
Football, rugby, tennis highlights appear on Dailymotion within hours of matches ending. Many are geo-restricted to specific countries — if you can see it, you can save it.
Old French TV shows, talk-show segments, and documentaries that don't exist on YouTube often live on Dailymotion. Worth archiving — they get pulled.
Some artists post directly to Dailymotion to bypass YouTube's content matching. Live shows and rare recordings often only exist here.

Any public video on dailymotion.com — news clips, sports highlights, music videos, archived TV segments, embedded players on third-party sites. Paste the URL, get an MP4.
Depends on your IP. Dailymotion blocks some videos to specific countries (typically French broadcasters' content outside France). If the page itself plays for you in your browser, Savio can usually fetch it. If you see a country-block notice when you open the link, no third-party tool will help — you'd need a VPN.
Most public videos are available up to 1080p; news and live recordings often max out at 720p. Savio picks the highest progressive MP4 available — typically 720p or 1080p in a single file with audio.
Dailymotion playlists list multiple individual video URLs. The web tool handles them one at a time. Whole-playlist batch downloading is planned for Savio Desktop, a paid desktop client coming soon.
Live broadcasts can't be downloaded mid-stream — there's no fixed file to grab. Wait until Dailymotion archives the broadcast as a regular VOD, then paste that URL.
Private videos, deleted uploads, or country-restricted content fail. Older videos from 2015 and earlier sometimes have broken metadata that yt-dlp can't parse. If you hit that, copy the URL fresh from the address bar — sometimes the share button gives a redirect URL that confuses things.
Public content for personal viewing: generally fine in most jurisdictions. Broadcaster content (TV news, sports, paywalled studio releases) often has copyright restrictions even when it's freely viewable. Don't reupload, don't monetize, respect the source.
